The Georgia Promise Scholarship Act

This bill, the "Georgia Promise Scholarship Act", establishes promise scholarship accounts funded by the state in the amount of $6,500 per school year for eligible students. The bill creates the Georgia Education Savings Authority to administer the program, which allows participating students to use the account funds for qualified education expenses at participating private schools or for other approved services. The bill also increases the limits for individual tax credits for qualified education donations and removes a restriction on designating donations for specific schools. The program will be implemented in the 2025-2026 school year, subject to full funding of the Quality Basic Education Act, and will stand repealed by June 30, 2035 or 10 years after it becomes effective, whichever is later.1
