Consumer transparency for PFAS (forever chemicals)

Chamber of Origin: SenateThis bill prohibits, with certain exceptions, the sale and distribution of certain products containing intentionally added (PFAS) or (forever chemicals), such as cosmetics, carpets, fabric treatments, food packaging, children’s products, indoor textile furnishings, and indoor upholstered furniture, beginning on October 1, 2024. The bill also requires manufacturers of cookware containing intentionally added PFAS to provide certain information to customers, including a list of the PFAS substances and an internet address and QR code for a website with more information. Violations of these provisions are punishable as misdemeanors. PFA’s have been highly linked to: endocrine disruption, cancer, immune system effects, liver damage, high cholesterol levels, and negative reproductive and developmental effects. 1
