The voter signs up once, and the Ride to the Polls team takes care of the rest. The team finds the voter’s ward polling location, provides the relevant polling hours, and coordinates a white-glove ride to the polls and back home, removing the hassle and uncertainty from Election Day transportation.

Before you call, check your voter registration, confirm your ward and make a plan to vote. Everything you need is below, ward by ward.

How Does One Portsmouth Call Cover Five Wards?

Portsmouth riders: driver at 55 and over, voucher under 55

Dial 833-603-8683 or open Request Your Free Ride Online and share your name, number, Portsmouth pickup address and ward polling place.

Dispatch replies with a confirmation that names your track: private driver or Uber voucher.

On Election Day, your driver’s name and vehicle, or your voucher, arrives.

Use the address where you will be waiting when the car comes. If your building has several entrances, lobbies or parking areas, tell dispatch which one.

When your confirmation arrives, check both the pickup address and the destination. If either needs to change, call 833-603-8683.

Five ward polling places across Portsmouth, Rockingham County

The City of Portsmouth keeps a Voting Ward Map and a Street List by Ward. The street list is the fastest way to match your Portsmouth street to its ward.

Two Portsmouth neighbors can end up voting in different places near a ward line, and anyone who moved within the city may be in a new ward. Check the city tools, confirm with the state lookup, then give dispatch the polling place name and full address.

If your official polling information changes after your ride is confirmed, call 833-603-8683 so dispatch has the same destination you do.

Using the city’s ward map and street list

Ward 1 votes at New Franklin School, 1 Franklin Drive. The city describes it as off Woodbury Avenue, between the Anchorage Inn and the Howard Johnson Hotel.

The Woodbury Avenue landmarks help you picture the site, but give dispatch the full Franklin Drive address.

If you live in an apartment building, condominium or senior community, name the entrance where you will wait, and keep 833-603-8683 handy in case the pickup needs updating.

Ward 1: New Franklin School off Woodbury Avenue

Ward 2 is listed at Portsmouth Middle School, 155 Parrott Avenue, and the city names the Connie Bean Gymnasium Entrance as the way in for voting.

That entrance detail is worth keeping with your ride information. Give dispatch the Parrott Avenue address, and when you arrive, look for the Connie Bean Gymnasium Entrance rather than a door you have used for other school events.

If you are unsure about the drop-off once your ride is confirmed, call 833-603-8683.

Ward 2: Portsmouth Middle School, Connie Bean Gymnasium entrance

Ward 3 votes at the Portsmouth Senior Activity Center, 125 Cottage Street, the one Portsmouth polling place that is not a school.

If you are waiting at a residential complex or senior housing property, tell dispatch whether you will be at a side entrance, a lobby or another clear spot, and make sure it is recorded when you book. If that changes later, call 833-603-8683.

Ward 3: the Senior Activity Center on Cottage Street

Ward 4 is listed at Dondero Elementary School, 32 Van Buren Avenue.

A school property can have several doors and parking areas. Do not add your own drop-off instructions; book to the Van Buren Avenue address and follow the directions on site.

For pickup, if your street address alone might leave the driver unsure where to stop, add a clear meeting point.

Ward 4: Dondero Elementary School on Van Buren Avenue

Ward 5 votes at Little Harbour School, 50 Clough Drive, which the city describes as off South Street.

South Street helps with orientation, but dispatch needs the full Clough Drive address. Before Election Day, compare your confirmation with the official lookup, and call 833-603-8683 if they differ.

Ward 5: Little Harbour School off South Street

Portsmouth voters 55 and over are driven door to door by a trained driver, who waits while you vote and brings you home. Door-to-Door Rides to the Polls for New Hampshire Voters 55 and Over covers the details.

When you book, give your full pickup address, your ward polling place and your entrance, rather than sorting out the entrance on Election Day.

The Portsmouth 55-and-over driver track

Under-55 voters get a free Uber voucher for the ride to their ward polling place and back. Free Uber Vouchers to Vote in New Hampshire: How They Work has the details.

Before you use the voucher, make sure the destination matches your ward on the official lookup, and keep the full address rather than just the building name.

The Portsmouth under-55 voucher track

A trip home is included with every ride. Mention it on your first call.

Keep 833-603-8683 with you at the polling place. If you are there longer or shorter than you expected, use the contact details in your confirmation rather than guessing.

The ride back from your Portsmouth polling place

Booking a ride and registering to vote go through different offices. Ride to the Polls arranges the ride; the City of Portsmouth and the State of New Hampshire manage voter registration.

Anyone who needs voter registration information, or still needs to register, can start at Register to Vote. The city also points voters to the Secretary of State lookup to check their current registration and polling place.

Locally, the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 1 Junkins Avenue, handles voter registration, and each ward’s Supervisors of the Checklist keep the voter list and hold sessions before elections.

If you moved within Portsmouth, your ward may have changed along with your address. Check your registration and ward together, and check the official page for what applies to you.
