Gas Tax Expansion Act

Chamber of Origin: HouseThis bill allows county commissioners in counties with 700,000+ residents to continue annual fuel tax increases by adopting an ordinance with a two-thirds vote before December 31, 2026, instead of requiring voter approval in the 2026 general election. If no ordinance is adopted by that date, further annual increases are prohibited after January 1, 2027. A similar voter approval requirement applies for continuing increases beyond January 1, 2037.1
