Chamber of Origin: House

Assembly Bill 659 makes it easier for veterans and their families to access affordable higher education in Wisconsin. The bill shortens the state residency requirement for in-state tuition and fee waivers from five years to three years for veterans, spouses, and children who were not Wisconsin residents when they joined the military. It also removes the rule that veterans must have been Wisconsin residents when they entered active duty to qualify for in-state tuition. These changes help more veterans and their families benefit from educational opportunities in recognition of their service.1
