Increased penalties for fentanyl trafficking

Chamber of Origin: SenateThis bill introduces new penalties for trafficking and possessing fentanyl, lowering the threshold for what constitutes trafficking from 100 grams to 28 grams- which is a Category B felony with a potential prison sentence of one to ten years. Higher quantities, between 42 and 100 grams, are subject to more severe penalties, including imprisonment for two to fifteen years. SB35 also establishes penalties for the intentional misrepresentation of fentanyl products. The bill requires state and local law enforcement agencies, along with the Nevada Sentencing Commission, to submit detailed reports on fentanyl. 1
