Requiring photographic identification to Vote
Date of Vote: January 8, 2025
Chamber of Origin: SenateThe proposed amendment, to be considered by the 2025 legislature, mandates that no qualified elector may vote without presenting valid photographic identification issued by the state, federal government, or recognized institutions. If an elector cannot provide such identification on election day, they will be allowed to cast a provisional ballot, which will only be counted if valid identification is presented later. The amendment aims to enhance the integrity of the voting process while allowing for exceptions as determined by the legislature. The proposal follows a previous consideration by the 2023 legislature and is set for a public vote in April 2025.1
